FREE Housing Legal Clinics

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**

April 3, 2019

Media Contact: dontshootpdxmedia@protonmail.com

Earlier this year, we expanded our community outreach by opening an additional office at the Dismantle, Change, Build Center (DCBC) located at 14 NE Killingsworth in NE Portland. This location will house our Community Legal Referral Services Program, launching later this Spring in response to the increased need for legal services and support against police violence, sexual harassment and violence, employment issues, housing discrimination, immigration and more. Community members and attorneys are invited to participate in our Legal Referral Services Survey to offer support, recommendations or volunteer services.

Don’t Shoot PDX is pleased to announce a partnership with Legal Aid Services of Oregon as part of our ongoing commitment to expand legal services available to our community. The Portland Regional Office of Legal Aid Services of Oregon will provide a monthly housing legal clinic at the office of Don’t Shoot PDX. Tenants can receive free legal advice regarding matters such as housing discrimination, termination notices and evictions, repairs, reasonable accommodations, utility charges and other fees, rent increase protections and relocation assistance.

Join us Thursday, April 4th from 12pm – 1pm, to hear more about this partnership and the upcoming launch of the Community Legal Referral Services Program. A tribute to Nipsey Hussle and other community leaders, activists and organizers lost in the struggle against violence will follow.
