2nd Annual Black Arts Festival & BIPOC Marketplace

We’ll be tabling at the 2nd Annual Black Arts Festival & BIPOC Marketplace.

Come celebrate and educate at the festival-style 2nd annual Black Arts Festival! The festival will include a full concert experience, local vendors’ (POC only) Marketplace featuring clothing, jewelry, artwork of all kinds, health and beauty products, and handcrafted goods. Community organizations serving the Black and African community or other communities of color will be tabling so stop by to learn about services, sign up to volunteer or donate! Food will be available from local Black and African owned restaurants. Enjoy a cash bar, and a free DJ performance! This event is kid-friendly and kid-focused space with licensed child care will be available.

Reclaim MLK Annual March for Human Rights & Dignity

The 5th Annual Children’s March for Social Justice is our most important action of the year!!

Once again Children Lead with parents, community, and neighbors supporting the promotion of free speech and social change. The Children’s Art and Social Justice is joining forces with several community groups, unions, sponsors and partner organizations.

Once again we will collect food and clothing for local families which is distributed all year long via our partnership to support the Community Feed-In programming at Hughes Memorial.

Community Service & Feed In

On the third Saturday of the month we collect food, clothing, and supplies to distribute to local shelters and our community members. Volunteers needed to help identify individual, family, and neighbor needs for distribution.

** Note:  Families or volunteers with children are welcome to bring them to take part in the Children’s Art & Social Justice Council which happens in the same place and starts at 11am!

DSP Newsletter, September ’18

After several months of a Facebook hiatus we have decided to rejoin the platform.  For those of you that didn’t realize we departed, we removed ourselves after the Cambridge Analytica breach with two main goals in mind.  First, re-evaluate our website and social media security.  Second, focus our programming and organization needs by directly reaching out to community members and supporters to build partnerships.  Since our departure we have taken numerous steps to ensure the security of our content, team and volunteers including:  building a new website, changing our web server and ensuring all our messaging via email and text are fully encrypted.  During the process of reviewing our own platforms we went back to our grassroots organizing to engage face-to-face with our supporters and the community.
