#MeTooGirlPDX- “Hello World”, Edition #2

Hello World,

Welcome to the second edition of Hello World: the letter series. I’d like to first say that every day I’m learning, and that’s the goal of the day right? You don’t grow wise by staying immature, and with that being said, I recognize the immaturity and insecurities I’ve had walking through this fabricated society.  But, I have to remind myself that I’m only 27, the universe is moving as it should and I deserve credit everyday as so do you.

Introduction to #MeTooGirlPDX

Hello World,

I’d like to introduce myself.

I’m 27 years old and I am a #metoo survivor.

I was born in Washington D.C. and was raised in Portland, Oregon.

My mother, who had me at 17, moved us to Portland in hopes to escape the traumas she experienced in the DMV. She then married a man 15 years her senior, a man who I called dad for majority of my life.

I have yet to meet my actual father, who  served 22 years in prison before his release and deportation to Jamaica. During his sentence he left myself and 17 other children scattered across the U.S. and Jamaica.
