Not Black Friday 2025: care over capital
Thank you to everyone who showed up to help sort and distribute coats, socks, hygiene items and more from our free community pantry and we also want to give a huge thank you to Ricky Bella of Palomar for cooking over 400 free meals for our friends and neighbors in need!
We hope that Not Black Friday can be a reminder that there's always a way to fulfill the needs we see - please consider supporting the groups below who care for our unhoused communities on the ground regularly!
Operation Nightwatch, Blanchet House, Right to Dream Too, Dignity Village, Urban Alchemy Safe Rest Village and others.

Thank you to Meghann Gilligan for making another community art build a reality at the Pacific Northwest College of Art!
It was so inspiring to be surrounded by like-minded and motivated change agents ready to make art and get creative about taking care of one another for our collective futures.
Social change is made possible by opportunities to connect like these, and we're so grateful to have you all show up in such an intentional way. The next art build is on January 17, 2026 - SAVE THE DATE!

It was an honor to be invited to collaborate with artist Cara Levine in This is Not a Gun, a participatory ceramic workshop that opens space for healing and creative activism while cultivating an increased awareness of racial profiling, police brutality, and societal trauma in America.
Thank you to Cara Levine and the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education for bringing this important project to Portland.

Our low barrier programs exist because of you; and it's this support that fuels everything we do. For over a decade, the Children’s Art and Social Justice Council has led our Reclaim MLK March, and we’re gearing up for 2026! Mark your calendars and join us at PNCA on January 17, 2026, for a community-powered Art Build that brings families, youth, and organizers together in the spirit of collective action.
