Not Black Friday 2026!
Our annual "Not Black Friday" programming is a mutual aid and community care initiative that replaces consumerist holiday traditions with direct support, free food and resource distribution to our most impacted neighbors. We do this every year without any sponsorships - please consider supporting this years’ distribution!
Email socialoutreach@dontshootpdx.org with Not Black Friday in the subject line to sponsor, volunteer or request meals. If requesting meals, please make sure to note how many meals needed, contact info and any dietary or allergy restrictions.
More about Not Black Friday:
Free Meal Program: Collaborating with local chefs (such as Chef Ricky Bella of Palomar), Don’t Shoot PDX prepares and distributes hundreds of hot, free meals for community members and unhoused neighbors.
Our free community pantry DSPDX Annex (located at 927 NW Everett St) operates year-round and scales up as a free pantry distributing winter coats, socks, hygiene items, and pantry staples.
Art Builds & Activism: Leading up to the event, community art builds (often hosted in partnership with spaces like the Pacific Northwest College of Art) teach screenprinting and create artwork for upcoming community traditions like the annual Reclaim MLK March in January.
Kickoff for Winter Organizing: The event marks the official launch of outreach and organizing cycles for winter community defense and advocacy campaigns.
