In Celebration Of Black August 2023

This years’ Juneteenth programming was such an enriching experience for us all - thank you to those who supported the week of action by making art and hosting workshops!

Activating our new offices and gallery in such an interconnected way excites us for the programming to come.

Thank you to Ethos Music Center, Pacific Northwest College of Art and artists Julian Gaines, Layna Lewis and Matt Perez for building community alongside us!

Thank you to
Souvenir Art Gallery for hosting an installation of our Liberated Archives series through June. We were able to host a free tenant rights legal session with attorneys from Legal Aid of Oregon as well as have meaningful conversations about systemic discrimination through housing policies, gentrification and more.

July Events

Join us at Dawson Park at the annual Job & Resource Fair hosted by The Eliot Neighborhood Associaton’s Community Outreach, Garlington Cascadia Healthcare and Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church on July 11 from 11am to 2pm. Please share this with your networks and come by if you are in need of stable income and support opportunities.

July 26th - 30th we are traveling to Washington D.C. to present our Liberated Archives work alongside Danielle Mericle and Morning Star Padilla from the University of Oregon’s Special Collections at the Society of American Archivists Conference. The talk will be hybrid with registration available online

Ongoing Needs

We are in need of volunteers interested in supporting outreach efforts ahead of our 10th annual Reclaim MLK March. Please sign up to help us in bridging resources and building systems of communication to uplifting historically marginalized communities. It takes all of us to make a community action plan for social change a possibility - get involved today
