Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom - join us!

Following two long years of displacement due to Covid 19 protocols for health and safety, Don’t Shoot Portland is once again in a public facing location where we can continue to provide direct outreach, advocacy and onsite art and educational programming!

We're especially excited about reconnecting with the community for our signature arts and social justice work.

Come celebrate Juneteenth with us!

This year we will be organizing all month long instead of the annual week of action commemorating our national holiday.

PNCA x LASO x CYM x DSP Programming

Compose Yourself Magazine is supporting The Black Gallery by hosting online talks with artists from the inaugural show as well as weekly curated tours. Schedule your appointment for individuals and groups Thursday - Sunday from 12 to 5.

On June 16 at 1pm, we will also be having a live Instagram discussion with author Alice Faye Duncan for a special Juneteenth author spotlight on her newest book ‘This Train is Bound for Glory'.

We will have limited signed copies at PNCA that day available for lucky attendees! Can't make it? Here's the link to preorder your own copy or stop by Third Eye Books Accessories and Gifts.

Legal Aid of Oregon is providing on site intake at the DSPDX Annex.  The first clinic is for survivors of DV/SA living in, or have cases in Multnomah, Clackamas, Hood River, Wasco and Sherman counties.

On June 9 from 1 to 4pm, attorneys will provide a presentation on the different kinds of protective orders, and other safety net programs that may be available for survivors. Income limits for consultations is 200% of the federal poverty guidelines, and 125% for clients seeking more than brief advice.

Eligibility and registration can be found here - please email contact@dontshootpdx.org for any questions or support in filling out the forms. SPREAD THE WORD!

Juneteenth is a Service Day for Freedom!

A huge thanks goes out to volunteers who are choosing to provide their paid time off for the Juneteenth holiday as a day of service! Use this link if you’re interested in getting involved with any volunteer opportunities available with Don’t Shoot Portland and The Black Gallery.

Don't Shoot Portland is actively seeking sponsors for our Not Black Friday (November 2023) and Reclaim MLK programming in January of 2024. Please join a DSPDX Committee and help us make 2024 an incredible year for solidarity and social justice!
