Thank you to everyone who joined us for a weekend of Reclaim MLK events, and an extra special appreciation goes out to those who joined us for both the art build and Mondays’ march! In a time where so much seems to be out of our control, it feels good to know our communities are on the right side of history. Please share these photos with your children, loved ones and friends to let them know they truly made a social impact on this MLK Day!

Thank you to OPB and KPTV for their coverage of the 12th annual Reclaim MLK March.

Our programming would not be possible without you - please consider reaching out to support or sponsor next years’ art builds and March! Connect with us.

We are so proud to start 2026 with a new archiving series,Portland in Black, in partnership with City of Portland Archives. The public is invited to learn more about archiving basics, ways to preserve keepsakes and heirlooms, and the importance of cultural storytelling.

Portland in Black is the latest extension of our Liberated Archives programming and we are excited to host this new series at our Black Memory Lab. The City of Portland Archives works to ensure transparent and accountable government by preserving the City’s historic records and making them available to the public. Attendees of our workshops are not expected to leave or share their materials with the City without explicit consent. This workshop is meant to empower and uplift our communities’ access to information and research.

Our next workshop is February 28, 2026 from 10am - 12pm. Details and dates are here, with free registration via Eventbrite.
