Portland in Black: Documenting Our Lives in the City of Roses is a cultural preservation series designed to grow community connections, build archival skills, and work on personal projects.

Presented by Don't Shoot Portland, these hands-on workshops coincide with archival art exhibits to invite people to learn archiving skills and lift community stories, particularly within the underrepresented Black community. Attendees learn how to conduct research, document personal histories, and leave with an archival starter kit that includes best practices for preserving photos, documents, scrapbooks, art and textiles.
