Black Lives Matter Week of Action!

We are excited to join Oregon students for their Black Lives Matter week of action! We will be at McDaniel High School hosting a Know Your Rights training on Tuesday February 21 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm PST - free pizza provided courtesy of Portland Association of Teachers. Link to free registration is below!

We've also been invited by University of Portland faculty to take part in a discussion centered on a course titled ‘The Politics of Grief’, focusing on the role of grief in organizing and social movements. We are honored to take part in this presentation and are appreciative of the opportunity to connect on this important topic.

This Friday we will be streaming our Knight Library closing reception hybrid style at the University of Oregon in Portland’s White Stag campus where our latest Liberated Archives installation just went up! The exhibit will be on view through March 9 by appointment only - please contact pdxlib@uoregon.edu.

We encourage you to not only check out the exhibit but to spend time with the sculptural artwork on display by Julian Gaines. Titled ‘Black Souls’, we chose to center this piece in our Liberated Archives installation at White Stag because on September 26, 2010, Andre Dupree Payton was killed one block away on NW Second and Couch. The inclusion of this artwork is meant to pay honor to his life as a member of our family and a forever inspiration to this work.
