On Thursday, June 5th will mark 5 years since our successful lawsuit against the City of Portland and the Trump Administrationdemanding a change to police training, limiting their use of munitions and protecting the right of protest in our city, putting their consistent violations on the record.

Supported in partnership with a public health team that included doctors and mental health professionals, our organization produced a report that illuminated major health effects due to the indiscriminate use of tear gas and other riot control agents during the Covid-19 pandemic. Read about the lawsuit and RCA Report here.

The BLACK Gallery is hosting an immersive exhibit in partnership with Donovan Scribes & Portland Mercurys' BlackOut special issue: Reception this Thursday June 5th!

To coincide with the launch of Portland Mercurys' BlackOut: a 5 Year Retrospective of Portland’s Racial Justice Protests, Donovan Scribes has partnered with The BLACK Gallery powered by Don't Shoot Portland to curate an immersive exhibit inspired by the publication.

BlackOut offers a unique opportunity for Portlanders and visitors to revisit our cities’ movement for Black lives while simultaneously reflecting on the progress and setbacks 5 years later.

Join us for a First Thursday reception on June 5 from 5-7pm in the Pearl District at The BLACK Gallery at 916 NW Flanders Street Portland, OR 97209.

To schedule appointments or large group visits, please send an email to info@theblackgallerypdx.com.
